How do Age-Up transitions work?
At Bright Bear Academy, classroom transitions are based on your child's age, developmental readiness, and classroom availability. When your child is approaching their next classroom, we plan a smooth transition that includes visits to the new room so they can become familiar with their new teachers, friends, and environment before officially moving up. Children remain in their current classroom until a space becomes available, helping make the transition a positive and comfortable experience for everyone.
Meals & Snacks
Does Bright Bear provide meals and snacks?
Yes! We provide morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack.
What should families provide for their child?
Families should provide a water bottle, extra clothes, diapers, wipes, and diaper cream if needed.
How are food allergies and dietary needs handled?
Each classroom has an allergy list identifying food restrictions throughout the center. Staff check this list before serving food to children.
Health & Wellness
What happens if my child becomes sick while at Bright Bear?
Children who become sick at school will be brought to the front of the center and cared for separately from other children and staff by the Director or a teacher. They will be offered a cot and any additional comfort or care they need until their parent or guardian arrives. Please pick up your child as soon as possible.
Can Bright Bear administer medication?
Yes, with a doctor’s note and the required state paperwork.
How does Bright Bear handle allergies or medical needs?
During enrollment, parents complete forms detailing their child’s allergies and medical needs. Parents should also discuss allergies with teachers and staff so appropriate precautions can be established. Allergy information is maintained in the child’s file, the Director’s file, classroom records, and Playground. Relevant staff, including kitchen staff, are informed of food allergies and restrictions. Allergy medications are stored according to the center’s procedures. Please notify the Director and teachers immediately of any changes so paperwork can be updated.
Safety & Security
How does Bright Bear keep children safe and secure?
Bright Bear Academy is a secure, locked facility. Only approved parents and staff can get beyond our locked lobby. We also have cameras monitoring the entire building.
Do you have cameras in the classrooms?
Yes. Bright Bear Academy has an internal video surveillance system with cameras in classrooms, hallways, and common areas. Access to footage is restricted to Bright Bear administrators and authorized state agencies, including licensing authorities and law enforcement. Parents and guardians do not have access to live feeds or recorded footage. Any requested footage review is referred to State Licensing, which determines whether access is permitted under applicable privacy regulations.
How does classroom check-in and pick-up work?
Children must be signed in and out each day. Only individuals listed on the Designated Pick-Up Person form may pick up a child.
